Preventing Arc Flash Injuries

An article in Electric Light and Power magazine describes how utilities can reduce arc flash risk in medium voltage switchgear.  The article describes how arc flash risk can be reduced in both existing equipment and new installations. 

For new installations the article brings out four points to ensure new electrical equipment provides better protection. These are:

Well explained and outlines the importance of good signage. Let’s hope these changes save some extra lives, especially now that workers must have PPE when there is any arc-flash potential, and not just when an analysis for it has been made.
